12 Weeks Old!

Ruby is 12 weeks old today!  Boy did that time fly!  She's now getting to that fun stage, which is great for us.  She's beginning to coo and babble quite a bit and we'll have "conversations" throughout the day.  She's such a strong little girl and is always wanting to stand up.  Her head control is getting much stronger each day and she's getting better at sitting up on her own without falling over.

By far, her most favorite thing she likes to do is walk around the house, face forward, and look at everything.  She loves it even more now that the house is decorated for Christmas with lots of lights for her to look at.  Here's the decorated tree that she loves looking at.  Yes, I know it's slightly crooked.  I blame Andy, haha.  But, look past the crookedness and tell me what a great job I did at decorating it!  Grandma Robbi must be rubbing off on me!

So, Ruby's 12 weeks old, which means my maternity leave is coming to an end sadly.  I officially go back to work on December 15th. :(  I'm just trying to soak up every second with Ruby this last week. Makes me so sad thinking about leaving her.  I wish we could afford for me to go part time, but that just isn't in the cards for us right now.  I'm just racked with guilt for having some stranger watch my daughter for almost 10 hours a day and only getting to spend a few hours with her at night.  I feel like she'll form a stronger bond with the daycare lady than with us. :( I know millions of moms do it, and I will adjust, but it just makes me really sad.

Making the transition back to work will be a little easier the first week, because Andy will stay home with her for one week, then she will start daycare on the 22nd.  I'm grateful for this, only because Andy really will get to see what it's like spending 24/7 with Ruby, and will hopefully form a stronger bond with her during this week.  On the other hand, I'm a little nervous for him!  But I'm sure he'll do great :)

  1. Everyone will be fine, Lisa. At least you got 12 whole weeks of maternity leave. Back in the day, I only got 6 wks. As long as you found someone you are really comfortable with for daycare, you need not worry. Sounds like you may suffer separation anxiety before Ruby does. LOL. P.S. Crooked tree is lovely - good job! - Des
